It is offered as a weighty testimony—like a heavy brick placed upon the scale of justice—bearing witness to the conviction that God has not only given His Word but has also preserved it.

This version was born out of a desire to breathe narrative life into that poetic tension. In a world that so often equates value with wealth, power, and status, the story sought to champion a counter-cultural truth: that true love cannot be bought, co-opted, or commanded. What began as an radical, counter-cultural movement calling humanity away from the worship of mammon and toward radical self-sacrifice has been skillfully repackaged into the very engine of mammon itself. The holy and the transcendent have been commodified, stripped of their edge, and repurposed to serve the idols of wealth, comfort, and market efficiency. When the Jesus of the Gospels overturned the tables of the money changers in the temple, He was not staging a mild protest; He was directly confronting the profanation of the sacred by commerce. Today, however, the tables are no longer just inside the temple courtyard—they are the temple. Consider the haunting question posed by Jesus in Luke 18:8: "When the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?" It is a chilling query, murmured across the centuries, that cuts straight through the noise of our religious paraphernalia, multi-million-dollar industry events, and branded merchandise. The ache for peace in the midst of turmoil. Whether we recognize it or not, beneath our ambitions, fears, successes, and failures lies a deeper desire: the desire for God. The remarkable message of the Bible is that this longing is not accidental. It exists because God Himself placed it within us. More astonishing still, the God whom we seek is also seeking us. From the opening pages of Scripture, we find a Creator who walks with humanity in the Garden. Even after mankind's rebellion, God does not abandon His creation. Throughout the centuries He calls, pursues, forgives, rescues, and restores. The history of redemption is, in many ways, the story of a divine invitation. Again and again, God says to His people, "Come." Come into covenant. Come into fellowship. Come into life. Come into My presence. This invitation reaches its fullest expression in Jesus Christ.

While this novel imagines a future shaped by advanced technology, it is not fundamentally a book about machines. It is a book about relationships. It is a book about creators and creations. It is a book about freedom, love, loyalty, sacrifice, and hope. Some readers may recognize within these pages a deeper parallel.

Most people think of the Ten Commandments as a list of rules. They imagine thunder on Mount Sinai, stone tablets etched with divine words, and a series of moral requirements descending upon humanity from heaven. The commandments are often viewed as stern prohibitions, heavenly legislation carved into rock by an all-powerful Creator. Yet the biblical text itself begins in an entirely different way. Before the first command is spoken, before the first prohibition is given, before God tells Israel what they must do, He tells them who He is. The opening words of the Decalogue are among the most overlooked words in all of Scripture: "I am the Lord thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage." Exodus 20:2 (KJV) These words serve as the doorway through which every commandment must be understood. Notice what God does not say. He does not begin by declaring: "I am the Lord thy God who created the heavens and the earth." Though unquestionably true, that is not how He introduces Himself at Sinai. He does not identify Himself first as Creator, Judge, King, or Almighty Sovereign. Instead, He introduces Himself as Deliverer. "I am the Lord thy God who brought thee out of Egypt." This is intensely personal. God identifies Himself through an act of redemption. He reminds Israel not of His power alone, but of His relationship with them. He points to their shared history, their rescue, their liberation from suffering. The God speaking from the mountain is the same God who heard their cries in slavery, sent Moses, judged Pharaoh, parted the Red Sea, and carried them safely through the wilderness. Before Israel is asked to obey, they are reminded they have been loved. Before they are called to serve, they are reminded they have been rescued. Before there is law, there is grace.

Love is not added to the Christian life. Love is the Christian life.

The first cold front of the season had arrived overnight, and the school still smelled like wet asphalt and cafeteria grease. Suzanne was late. She had stayed up until 1 a.m. watching Jim’s band play an open-mic set at a coffeehouse that smelled like burnt espresso and hope. She was still humming the chorus of their new song when she pushed through the side entrance near the gym. The hallway was wrong. Mrs. Delgado, the usually cheerful algebra teacher who wore cardigans with cats on them, stood in the middle of the corridor with her head tilted at an angle that necks were not designed for. Her eyes were milky. A thin string of drool hung from her lower lip. In her hand was what used to be Mr. Patel from the science department. Most of Mr. Patel, anyway.

The Scriptures speak of God with many names — Creator, Judge, Shepherd, Father, Lord, Almighty, Holy One, Ancient of Days. But there is one name that stands above the rest in its severity, its purity, its terror, and its beauty:“Our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:29) This name is not metaphor. It is revelation. It is not symbol. It is essence. It is not poetry. It is truth. It is the unveiling of the God who burns away illusion, who purifies the heart, who judges wickedness, who reveals holiness, who consumes falsehood, who exposes reality, who divides light from darkness. To call God a consuming fire is to confess that He is not tame, not safe, not sentimental, not manageable, not reducible, not containable. He is the flame that reveals all things.
